The Coronavirus pandemic meant a live networking event had to be cancelled – I volunteered to turn it digital, creating the first GUTS Virtual Experience!
My introduction to communications, at the beginning in 2017 I was responsible for the photography and design of the newspaper. I gradually began contributing articles of my own, eventually discovering a love for writing and informing an internal audience.
As a runner I’ve always loved taking part in events – it’s all about the medal and the t-shirt! Events and running clubs are great way to build a sense of community and togetherness. With that in mind, one day I walked between Liberty Steel’s Stocksbridge and Rotherham sites, working out a bang-on half marathon route between them. After that, it was a no-brainer to organise a charity event!
This was a challenging project, the first time I had animated a character and created a fully animated scene in After Effects. I had to learn on the job with this one!
The rest of the footage was shot by myself in a steelworks. Everything was then stitched together in Premier Pro.
